A story of a family torn apart by domestic violence and the cycle it
creates from one generation to the next. From the verbal abuse to the
physical abuse, Michelle is tormented by her husband Ted. Nine year old
Marcus and Eight year old Aaron hear the violence happening in their
home but never see it until one night. Ted starts to physically abuse
the boys. Eight years
later, Marcus and Aaron are teenagers and the abuse is still happening.
Marcus becomes more withdrawn from high school while Aaron becomes more
violent in nature. Each begin to see in each other the influence that
was upon them and they decide to do something about it.
BROKEN spans ten years, as seen through the eyes of their children as
they grow and how they can try to break the cycle. This film is designed
and targeted for high school students and adults to not only bring the
awareness of domestic violence and how it influences the next
generation, but offers solutions and how we can help.
The statistics are staggering – a woman is beaten every 15 seconds in
America. The American Medical Association now estimates that almost 4
million women are victims of severe assaults by boyfriends and husbands
each year and about one in four women is likely to abused by a partner
in her lifetime. Haesefilms has created the film BROKEN to serve as an
awareness learning tool to show the cycle of abuse and how it influences
your children. Targeted for high school students and adults to help see
the warning signs and offers a way for people to help and find their
voice against all forms of domestic violence.
This 2-DVD Educator film has the full length movie version and two 30
minute versions of the program to be used in classrooms or large
presentations. The 30 minute versions deal differently and highlight how
children view the violence and how the teenagers view the violence. The
DVD also comes with an Educator manual designed for the classroom and
large presentation viewing.
THE FILM ALSO FEATURES THE SONG “SOMEDAY” BY NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST
RYAN CALHOUN.
